How to Set Up Your Space for Your Private Painting Event

From outdoor river-front property to a cozy front room, church classrooms to conference centers, we can work with nearly any space to meet the needs of your unique personal painting party.

Let’s go over two important things so you are fully prepared for your painting party

  • How to Set Up Your Space

  • How Many Painters Can Sit at Different Types of Tables.

It’s very important for you to consider the size of your space and party size so that our event isn’t too crowded, and so that everyone can clearly see the instructor.

How to set up your painting party space:

  1. Make sure that once all the tables and chairs are set up, your guests have space to leave the table. Typically, we need a minimum of 1.5’ of space between chairs when they are pulled out (occupied).

  2. Position your tables so that everyone can turn their head and see the instructor clearly. Try not to have anyone’s back to the instructor. This may not always be possible, but it’s worth moving a bit of furniture around if needed to help everyone have a clear line of sight.

  3. Consider where the instructor will be standing in your space. Our instructor needs about a 6’ x 6’ space to effectively paint and teach. Please plan accordingly so that she can set up at her reserved area as soon as she arrives for your party.

If you have even a moment’s hesitation that everyone joining us at your private paint party will comfortably fit in the area, please do a “dry run” and set up the table and chairs to test things out :)

A few other things to consider when setting up your space:

  • If your floor can’t get any paint on it (carpet, rug, etc.), we recommend including drop cloths to go under the tables.

  • We can provide chair covers (standard metal folding chairs only) upon request (10-day advance notice required). For non-folding chairs, if you would like them protected from paint drops, you will need to plan for appropriate chair covers.

Table Arrangement

When setting up your tables and chairs in your space, try to ensure that everyone has a view of the instructor so that nobody has to have their back to the artist.

Our instructor needs at 6x6ft. space with a few feet of space between her area and your guests.

1.5’ of space minimum is required between chair backs.

How Many Painters Can Sit at Different Types of Tables?

Most of our painting events include 11x14 canvas, making it possible to seat a maximum number of guests at each table, however, we also offer a 16x20 canvas size which requires more space for guests to work comfortably.

Here are some example diagrams to consult so that you are sure to have enough room for your guests.
